This fall has seen a lot of change for many of the families we are friends with. Some kids going from private school to public school, some changing private schools, some going from homeschool to public school and ours, changing the plan from returning to private school to homeschooling for the first half of the year. All my friends expressed some degree of distress at the change in their school plans. Most had absolutely no choice in the matter. I have felt like an untrue friend, unable to empathize because our choice felt easy and right. But I have been lifting all the children up in prayer throughout each day as various first days/weeks of school occurred. Based on what I'm hearing, most kids are doing ok and families are adjusting to new realities. I'm still praying.....
School has been going for three days for us. It's mostly online and the kids are very happy with it. Even I like how comprehensive it is compared to my plan for last year. The kids work slow as turtles, but I am hoping that will improve. I still have to add in handwriting and reading, but I am loving having both home with me full time. I am pretty sure most days won't be as perfect as this week, but for now we are having fun.
I am also fitting in the final paperwork for the journey next month to Ethiopia and that reminds me that I will soon have additional challenges to face. Maybe God is carefully regulating how much stress I face. PTL!
