To travel or NOT to travel....

We are considering taking the entire family to Ethiopia when we go to pick up the kids. We would then stay the whole 6 weeks or so after our court date while waiting for our embassy appointment. Brian would have to return to work after the court date and rejoin us for the embassy appointment, as he simply cannot be away from work for that long. I am feeling really excited-- I really love being in Ethiopia and the notion of sharing it with my children is intoxicating. We are seeking counsel from others who have taken children there and are considering delaying Allen and Emily's starting school until the second semester so they won't miss much while they were gone. I would homeschool for the first semester, which of course would free up the money needed to add the kids to the itinerary. So pray we would know what to do. The experience would change the children's lives. And I honestly don't know how I could meet our adoptive children and then have to leave them at the orphanage for an additional 6 weeks.

In other news, a broody hen successfully hatched out five chicks today. The stench of her nest was amazing. I can't imagine how she stayed put to the end in the heat we have been enduring.

  1. sounds like a once in a lifetime deal....what could be better education than that? I say go for it! how will allen and emily be able to really appreciate where their brother and sister are coming from unless they go hang out there for six weeks? Praying for all the details to come together....deb
